Joan Eardley: Townhead to Catterline. A Centenary Tribute is an online exhibition of the artworks of Scottish artist Joan Eardley (1921–1963) from Glasgow Museums’ collection made available in celebration of the centenary of the artist’s birth.

The museum has 24 works by Eardley in its holdings, five oil paintings and nineteen works on paper (pastels, watercolours and drawings). The collection is wide-ranging including early works and late works, landscapes and portrait studies, preparatory, finished and unfinished works. Most famously the museum holds Two Children (1863) a painting that was left unfinished on Eardley’s easel at her death. The collection encompasses works from Eardley’s Hospitalfield residency and Italian scholarship trip, streetscapes from Townhead and seascapes from Catterline, and demonstrates her versatility and vitality as an artist, a portraitist of people and place.
